Without any doubts, the gaita genre unites Venezuela. Year after year the gaita conquers the hearts of the Venezuela people thanks to its contagious rhythm and flavor. It brings us back the smells of the traditional “hallaca” and the gifts the Baby Jesus bring every Christmas. Through the gaita, we sing to life, to love, to life, to our Virgin Mary “Chinita” and to God. Even as a protest genre, after 30 years “La Grey Zulia” is still the most important gaita, because it collects the feelings and needs of the people. This compilation “Gaiteando” collects the most significant gaitas of all times, sung by some of the most important Gaiteros of all times. These timeless songs have been recorded in the intimate concept of the Venezuelan Acoustic Trio, emulating the holiday home parties that are held everywhere in Venezuela.

Even though we do not have this time tambora, charrasca and furro (traditional percussion instruments), the Gaitero spirit lives through the bass, the cuatro and the flute. A group of friends joined us to sing as a family, while we share the traditional Pernil, the chicken salad and the ham bread paired with the usual “liquid poetry”.

Let’s all sing gaitas for Venezuela! Huáscar P.S.: from the bottom of my heart this is a message for parents and grandparents: please teach our children and grandchildren the gaitas you like, they can enjoy them, taste them and make them their own. The gaita is part of our traditions and must be preserved, it is gift from God!
