NOTAS BY HUASCAR:
In May 2006, a magic event was created, when a group of extraordinary Venezuelan musicians and singers got together as friends to perform an unforgettable musical party. Days later, the maestro Aldemaro Romero wrote on the newspaper “El Carabobeño”:
“Mollejúo is truly the most accurate adjective to describe anything that is grandiose, herculean, potent, overwhelming, amazing, yes, this and more applies to the show presented by Huáscar Barradas on the stage of the Teresa Carreño theater…”
Three years later, once again we are on the stage of the Teresa Carreño Theater with “Entre Amigos 2” striving to keep the same “mollejúo” level.
This was not an easy task, since the group of friends who joined me onstage in 2006 was extraordinary. Happily, Venezuela is a talent rich country, fecund with creativity and humor, so little by little I started inviting brilliant friends to join this second musical party.
On top of presenting excellent Venezuelan music, we also want to offer a scenography where we all can integrate a unified vision and move freely through time and space. Under this concept, we travel on the dreams submarine and we created the Venezuelan music we like in the Laboratory of the Unlimited: free, spontaneous, risky, beautiful and deep.
Our goal once more is to touch the soul of our audience. Along the performance, our audience can dance, they can laugh, they can be moved to drop a tear or the get goosebumps. We want to transport them to these colors, smells and sensations only music can create.
My most recent production, “Reinvención”, allowed me to get in touch with the musical genres that are being produced in Venezuela, so now there is a reggaeton with poems by Blanco, Neruda, and Benedetti under the harmonies and melodies of Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky; a “Bolero” by Ravel with African American drums; a “Merentón” (Merengue and Reggaeton); a gipsy Tamborera and a Rock Florentino and the Devil. “Entre Amigos 2” combines present and future in a single time entity. At “entre Amigos 2”, there was no ego fight, but rather mutual admiration among us musicians and singers. We truly feel blessed by the fact of being able to perform together in front of you.
On the stage, we had a dream team of Venezuelan musicians, each is a star on his own instrument and we were very lucky to have them with us.
You will listen to Venezuelan music without borders, without divisions, no matter which musical trend each of us belong to. Just like the first “Entre Amigos” concert, this is the meeting hub for all of us who love Venezuela.
